My dear
Vice-Chancellor,
We are surprised by the report that you received a
delegation of the ‘All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat’ led by its General
Secretary Maulana A.Z. Kairanvi.
Perhaps you are not aware of the genesis of this fake
organization. After I was elected
unanimously as the President of the All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat in
June, 2000, a handful of members formed a parallel organization. Except Maulana Ataur Rahman Qasmi, no one in
the Delegation was in the original Mushawarat.
Maulana Kairanvi was a later recruit.
The dissident body has not published the lists of its
General Body or of its Executive. It
has no permanent office. It has not
published its budget or Accounts or disclosed its financial sources. Yet it has the temerity to adopt the name of
the parent body.
The All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat was founded
by Dr. Syed Mahmud in 1964. For your
information I am attaching an Introductory Brochure, a copy of its Constitution
and a Directory of its Members as well as a copy of the latest issue of our
quarterly Bulletin. We have our own
office and web-site (www.mushawarat.com).
There is no dearth of paper organizations which claim
to represent the Muslim community. In a
democracy, any small group can form or float an organization. I don’t have any objection if they did not
use our name. It is immoral for a small
group of dissidents to commit an act of piracy or as if the parent body had
ceased to exist and they had inherited the name.
The news report has caused much confusion and will
encourage and assist them to seek similar recognition from other Muslim
institutions of national eminence.
We request you, in general, to check the bonafides of
organizations which seek appointment with you.
With kind regards,
Yours sincerely,
(SYED SHAHABUDDIN)
