My dear Mulayam Singh Yadavji,

At the time of the communal riots in Mau in October, 2005, I had caution you against the persistent effort of the Rashtriya Hindu Vahini to keep the cauldron boiling under the direction of its chief Mahant Adityanath.

There has been a number of incidents since then.

On 6 August, 2006, a mosque was torched which led to tension and brick-batting.  Although peace has been restored, we would like to know whether the culprits have been identified, arrested and prosecuted.

In the past also, the main culprits including the local chief of the Hindu Vahini was let off.  So we would request you to direct the district administration to gear up intelligence and detain and interrogate the culprits and prosecute them, if there is a prima facie case..

We would also request you to prohibit Mahanta Adityanath’s visit to sensitive areas in eastern UP and to prosecute him for his inflammatory speeches.  Also his public speeches should be video-taped and the playing of his audio tapes in public should be prohibited.
