STATEMENT
AIMMM Condemns Terrorist Attack on Mecca Masjid, Hyderabad
Demands Judicial Inquiry and Investigation by the CBI.
Offers Condolences to the Bereaved Families.
New Delhi,21 May 2007: Shri Syed Shahabuddin, President of the All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM), has issued the following Statement:-
The All India Muslim Majlis-e-mushawarat (AIMMM) condemns the terrorist attack on the Mecca Masjid, Hyderabad, on Friday, the 18th May 07, in which many innocent persons lost their lives, both in the bomb blast and in the subsequent police firing. The AIMMM offers its heartfelt condolence to the bereaved families.
The AIMMM has come to the tentative conclusion that the police firing was not only unjustified, but excessive and in utter disregard for human life. It recalls that in the last few years, resort to such firing on Muslim protestors has become a common practice of the Hyderabad Police.
Therefore, the AIMMM demands a separate judicial inquiry in the police firing and requests the State Government to establish a Commission of Inquiry and to hand over the case to the CBI for investigation. The AIMMM also recommends the immediate suspension of the police officer who ordered the firing. th May 07, in which many innocent persons lost their lives, both in the bomb blast and in the subsequent police firing.
